A Tour of Palmy’s Full Drink Menu
Coffee gets top billing at most cafes, and Palmy’s espresso program earns its own attention. But scroll further down the drink menu and there’s a whole second program running alongside it – ceremonial-grade matcha, smoothies built from real produce, and a lineup of craft lemonades and sodas that have nothing to do with espresso at all.
The Matcha Lineup
Every matcha drink on the menu starts from the same ceremonial grade matcha, then branches out from there – some built around fruit, some built around a flavored cloud of foam on top. It’s a bigger matcha program than most cafes bother building.
Fruit-Forward Matcha
The Lilikoi Matcha with Macadamia Nut Cloud pairs passionfruit syrup with a macadamia-topped finish, while the Burnt Pineapple Matcha with Salted Honey Cloud and the Mango Sticky Rice Matcha take the same fruit-forward approach in different directions – burnt pineapple against salted honey, mango puree against a salted coconut cloud.
Why the “Cloud” Matters
The cloud toppings aren’t just decoration – a macadamia nut cloud or a salted coconut cloud changes the first sip of the drink before it even mixes into the matcha underneath, the same way foam changes how a latte hits early on.
Classic and Coconut Matcha
For a more straightforward order, the Matcha Latte keeps things simple with a choice of milk and ceremonial grade matcha. The Coconut Matcha with Matcha Foam swaps in coconut water for a lighter, less creamy base, and the Blueberry Lavender Matcha adds a blueberry lavender syrup for a floral, fruity twist without a cloud on top.
Smoothies Built From Real Ingredients
The smoothie menu reads more like a produce list than a drink menu – banana, almond butter, and dates in the Blue Moon, carrot, pineapple, turmeric, and ginger in The Cure, peanut butter and activated charcoal in the PB Local. None of the three lean on a shortcut fruit-juice base to do the work.
Lemonade, Soda, and the Dirty Shirley
The lemonade and soda side of the menu is where Palmy’s gets the most playful. Blueberry Mint Hibiscus Lemonade and Blueberry Lavender Lemonade both start from the same lemonade base with a different syrup and tea folded in, while the Yuzu Lavender Lemonade adds dried pitaya for something a little more unusual. The Lilikoi Soda keeps it simple: passion fruit syrup and soda water, nothing else in the way.
The Dirty Shirley, Palmy’s Way
The Dirty Shirley borrows its name from the classic bar order but stays entirely non-alcoholic here – lemon lime syrup, soda water, grenadine, coconut cream, and a maraschino cherry on top. It’s built for the nostalgia of the name, not the drink it’s usually associated with.
Tea, Simple and Straightforward
Rounding out the menu, the tea list keeps things uncomplicated: Mango Green Tea, Island Breeze Rooibos, and Hibiscus Tea, each served straightforward rather than dressed up with extra syrups the way the lemonades are. Sometimes the simplest order on the board is exactly what a table wants.
There’s more on the drink menu than a latte. Try a matcha, a smoothie, or a craft lemonade next time you’re at Palmy’s, and see how far the drink program actually goes.
